Virtual visit days

Visit days give you a taste of what it's like to be a student at Manchester and allow you to ask any questions you may have about studying here, university life or the city itself. Once you have submitted your UCAS form, and are in receipt of an offer, you will be invited to attend a visit day.

The safety of our staff, current and prospective students is our main priority. As a result, the decision has been made to deliver our 2020 / 2021 visit days virtually. Our team have been working hard to ensure we deliver a similar student experience so that you receive all the information you need in order to make your decision.

On the visit day

Our visit days are full of useful information that will help you get a sense of what to expect when studying at Manchester. Below is the itinerary of the day:

  • Welcome and introduction - the visit day will begin with an introductory talk from the Head of Foundation Studies and will provide more information about the content, structure, and delivery of the 1 year programme.
  • Q&A - during the visit day, you will also have an opportunity to chat with some of our current students as well as members of the Foundation Studies team.

The date and time of the visit day will be emailed to you in advance along with the Zoom link required to attend.

Parents and carers

Parents and carers are welcome to attend the virtual visit day.

We will also be hosting dedicated sessions for parents / carers and supporters in March These sessions will enable parents / carers and supporters to find out more information about what it's like to study at Manchester. There will be opportunities to ask questions to our staff, academics and current students.

Please pass these details onto your parents / carers and ask them to sign up.

Frequently asked questions

What should I wear?

There is no dress code for our virtual visit days.

Who can I bring with me?

We welcome you to bring along anyone who would benefit from learning more about our University in order to help you make your decision.

Is attending mandatory?

We encourage you to attend as much of the Visit Day as possible. You will receive important information in the introductory talk and you will spend the visit day with academics and student ambassadors, giving you the opportunity to ask questions about their experience of the course and university life. As you are making a decision about where to spend the next four or five years, it is of benefit to you to be as well informed as possible about the course and the University.

We do understand that this may not always be possible, depending on your individual circumstances. Please contact us at ug-fy-se@manchester.ac.uk if you are unable to attend for the whole event.

Do I need to be on camera?

It is up to you whether you have your camera switched on during the talks, but we would encourage you to do so if you feel comfortable.

What if I have technical issues on the day?

Please don’t worry, you will not be penalised for something that is beyond your control. If you are having technical problems on the day then please email ug-fy-se@manchester.ac.uk to let us know and we will try our best to rearrange your visit day.
